As part of a campaign to promote its new McCafé line, McDonald’s is now offering consumers in the United States the chance to sample a free Hot Mocha or Iced Mocha at any participating McDonald’s restaurant. The offer is available on any Monday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. right up to August 3, and the complimentary drinks come in special, promotional sizes: 7 oz. for the iced version, or 8 oz. for the hot variety. (Normally, a small McDonald’s McCafé beverage is 12 oz.)

Note, McCafé espresso-based drinks are made with Arabica coffee beans—harvested by hand in Central America, South America and Indonesia—along with real milk, rich chocolate syrup and fresh whipped cream. All are fully customizable. McDonald’s estimates that it will likely give away some 10 million samples during its Free Mocha Mondays campaign.

Coffee is a beverage that is made from roasted coffee beans (from the coffee plant). Coffee beans come from numerous types of tiny evergreen bushes of the Genus Coffea. Once the coffee beans are mature, they are picked, processed, and then dried. Coffee beans then go through a process known as ‘roasting’. The beans are roasted to several different degrees depending on the flavour that is required. The beans are then grounded and brewed to produce coffee. In the coffee industry the two main types of coffee are Coffea Robusta and Coffea Arabica.
