Where Does Coffee Come From?

7 September 2008 in Where / What?

Coffee is a beverage that is made from roasted coffee beans (from the coffee plant). Coffee beans come from numerous types of tiny evergreen bushes of the Genus Coffea. Once the coffee beans are mature, they are picked, processed, and then dried. Coffee beans then go through a process known as ‘roasting’. The beans are roasted to several different degrees depending on the flavour that is required. The beans are then grounded and brewed to produce coffee. In the coffee industry the two main types of coffee are Coffea Robusta and Coffea Arabica.
